Crysis 3’s Green Fields are a Welcome Change from Grey and Brown

November 15, 2012 by Jordan Erica Webber

It’s nice to see some greenery, even if it is unnatural.

A new video preview from Crytek shows the Fields level of Crysis 3, in which:

On their way to meet up with the rebels, Michael 'Psycho' Sykes and Prophet make their way into the Liberty Dome of NYC and fight opposing CELL forces in the lush fields of the MTA West Site Storage Yard.

The sandbox level takes Prophet through that strange mix of city and grassland. I have to admit, it is nice to see some greenery; it makes a pretty nice change from other FPS games with their high levels of grey and brown, even if it is the result of “the unnatural power of the Nanodome”. Don't worry though, there are still plenty of explosions, and lots of men to shoot. The guns look pretty epic, too (watch out for a moment where Prophet destroys a tower with one of them), and the electric arrowheads are a nice touch.

But mostly, it's just running and gunning, and taking a lot of damage without dying – c'est la vie. One thing I don't really like, and this is probably just because I'm British myself, is the constant muttering of greek letters in a cockney accent – Delta what now? At least it looks like you can decide not to listen to those specific recommendations if you want to, as the destruction of the tower seems to prove.
