Nielsen has released its Game Rank for Q4 2012, listing the top ten most anticipated games for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Wii for this year's holiday season. The lists use consumer data collected from more than 4,800 consumers between September 9th and October 6th, and includes games that were/are expected to launch on at least one current generation console between October and December of this year.
For Xbox 360, the top ten are:
-
Halo 4
-
Call of Duty: Black Ops II
-
Assassin's Creed III
-
Resident Evil 6
-
NBA 2K13
-
Need for Speed: Most Wanted (2012)
-
Medal of Honor: Warfighter
-
WWE '13
-
Hitman: Absolution
-
Fable: The Journey.
The PS3 list is similar, though obviously missing the Xbox exclusive Halo 4:
-
Call of Duty: Black Ops II
-
Assassin's Creed III
-
Resident Evil 6
-
NBA 2K13
-
WWE '13
-
Need for Speed: Most Wanted (2012)
-
Hitman: Absolution
-
007: Legends
-
Medal of Honor: Warfighter
-
LittleBigPlanet Karting
The Wii list reflects Nintendo's family friendly vibe with a total lack of first-person shooters, and demonstrates the popularity of dance games on the console:
-
Just Dance 4
-
Zumba Fitness Core
-
LEGO The Lord of the Rings
-
Just Dance: Disney Party
-
Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two
-
NBA 2K13
-
WWE '13
-
Transformers Prime: The Game
-
Skylanders Giants
-
Nickeloden Dance 2
Dishonored apparently only just missed out on a top ten position, presumably due to its novelty and the proliferation of sequels on all three lists. Another interesting thing to note is the scarcity of console exclusives in these lists. Although Halo 4 tops the 360 list with a ranking of 99% (i.e. the game is more anticipated than 99% other 360 games have been at the same point in their release cycles), the only other exclusive is Fable: The Journey at number ten. And the PS3 list only includes LittleBigPlanet Karting, again at number ten.
Are all of your anticipated games for the next few weeks listed above, or is there a vital title missed?
