Pearl Abyss has shared new insights on the status of their upcoming action adventure RPG Crimson Desert in their latest conference call with investors.
As shared on Reddit, Pearl Abyss had also publicly uploaded slides and audio from this conference call. Clearly, the company doesn’t just want investors, but gamers and the public at large, to hear from them regarding this game.
What follows is a partly edited transcription of what was said in the meeting. Please note that the speaker, likely Pearl Abyss CEO Jeonghee Jin, had a translator on hand, and its her translation that we have below.
“It has been some time since we first disclosed Crimson Desert. But for this long time, we have been working very hard, so that the quality of the game has developed by leaps and bounds.
In particular, at Gamescom this year, we plan to disclose new footage of the game, that will actually showcase the real gameplay of Crimson Desert.
We will show you how Crimson Desert is being developed and perfected, and show you the level of quality that we’re aiming for.
Regarding the details of our footage, we would like to kindly ask you to wait until Gamescom and see our footage.
In regards to DokeV, I believe that we have given you information that the Blackspace Engine has been shared. The resources and assets that are being used for Crimson Desert, and it is being developed greatly as well.
Since we are using the Blackspace engine, we are improving the development efficiency. So we believe that after Crimson Desert, it will take a relatively short amount of time for us to finish the development of DokeV.
Since we are smoothly developing the game so far, after we disclose the Crimson Desert footage, we will think about how we can give you more information about our development status, and the high quality of our game going forward.”
For those who are unaware, DokeV is an open world Pokemon like creature collecting RPG. Pearl Abyss also announced this game for the West, but it also received a delay to this year.
Blackspace, on the other hand, is the company’s latest proprietary game engine. They are using it to make DokeV and Crimson Desert, and it will bring those games to the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
Crimson Desert itself was indefinitely delayed two years ago, but last March Pearl Abyss revealed that they were ready to show the game off again soon.
Pearl Abyss is only one of many Korean game companies looking to make a name for themselves in the global stage. While Black Desert Online didn’t quite completely hit the mark to become a crossover hits, many gamers worldwide still recognized the game company’s potential to make visually impressive game experiences. Hopefully, their future games will see them fully realize their ambitions, as gamers want to see them make their best games too.
