5 Of The Best Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End Theories

May 8, 2016 by Mason Cade Packer

Are you ready for Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End? Take a look at our 5 theories for the final installment in the franchise. Don’t worry, there’s no spoilers here.

2. OLD FRIENDS

Sam, Uncharted 4Let’s just take a moment to run through some of the smaller theories and facts we know based on teasers, reveal and gameplay trailers.

We know for a fact that Nathan Drake, Elena Fisher and Victor “Sully” Sullivan all make a triumphant return for the final game. But here at Gameranx, we want more. To close the series we feel like we need some of the loose ends tied for the final time, it just so happens that these loose ends come with the names Charlie Cutter and Chloe Frazer.

We left off with these two in Uncharted 3: Drakes Deception. Cutter breaks his leg from a fall later on in the game and from there on out they’re gone, never to be heard from again. There is a small trend in this article that suggests Uncharted 4 multiplayer components might be the answer we’re looking for. I’m talking about Cutter, who was playable in the open multiplayer beta for the game. If Naughty Dog has put in the effort to remodel the character for multiplayer then perhaps we’ll see Charlie and Chloe make a hilarious and convenient return in the story of Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End.

Then, there is Nathan’s brother, Sam. We don’t actually know a whole lot about Sam aside from the small amount of him we’ve seen in the trailers. We know he’s returned to Nathan with a proposition, more adventure, which at this point in Drakes life, seems pretty off the table. If the PlayStation Experience trailer is anything to go by it seems Nathan is all settled into a quiet, safe and boring life, so it should be interesting to witness the context that very rapidly pulls him back out of it.

The only final piece of the puzzle with Sam is his history with Nathan. From the trailer we can infer that Sam and Nate shot a guard, we don’t know where or when it happened except that is was prior to Uncharted: Drakes Fortune. Sam was then imprisoned, and in the process was also shot in the lower stomach which had Nathan thinking he was dead all these years. If this doesn’t scream “flash-back scene” then I don’t know what does. Either way, I’m sure you’re all as excited as me to learn more about Sam.
