1. PLAYING AS FRANCIS DRAKE
The Uncharted series has always revolved around Nathans love for his adventuring ancestor Sir Francis Drake, and if rumours are to be believed we should see the return of the character in Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End. This time around many fans speculate that Francis Drake could be playable in a flashback-like chapter similar to a sequence in Uncharted 3: Drakes Deception, where you play as a younger version of Nathan.
It is said that Sir Francis Drake travelled around the coast of Madagascar, where parts of the game are set, on his return to Portsmouth. We can’t help but admit that there is wriggle room here for the writers, Neil Druckmann in particular, to work their story-telling magic. We first learned of the games potential setting back in 2013 with the Uncharted PS4 Teaser Video. In the trailer, we get our first taste of the land that Sir Francis Drake has touched, and potentially the land we get to explore in his shoes.
We loved playing as young Drake in early chapters of Uncharted 3: Drakes Deception and we wouldn’t put it past the team at Naughty Dog to treat us to it again. For the final installment of the beloved franchise, we’d feel it be wrong not to incorporate Sir Francis Drake in a more substantial role. Also, we love twists, but- there’s more on that later.
