Gold Doubloons are optional collectibles that unlock costume tiers from the shop. By collecting hidden Gold Doubloons, you’ll make more costumes available for purchase in the shop menu. Gold Doubloons are hidden through side-quests, in the environment, or by completing challenges. Some challenges can’t be completed until after returning to a level. If a lock icon appears over an element on the stage, you’ll need to return later after unlocking more abilities for Spongebob.
Gold Doubloon #1: Cloud Slide – At the start of the level, ride the slide until you reach the fire rings with bubble surfboards. With the first surfboard, ride to the right and jump off — there are hooks Spongebob can swing on. Swing across the hooks to reach an alternate rainbow path leading to this tricky doubloon.
Gold Doubloon #2: Castle Courtyard – In the courtyard outside the main gate to the castle, drop down to the waterway to the left of Squidward. There’s a big rock you can hop onto, and ride like in the prehistoric level. Barrels will appear. Ride the rock and smash all the barrels on the path before the time runs out to earn this doubloon.
Gold Doubloon #3: Meanderson River – On the quest to get some Pro-Aging Cream for Twitchy, you’ll drop down a river. From the checkpoint, go left until you reach dry land. From here, look to the left (lower path) to get behind the waterfall by destroying the wall of stone tiki crates. Attack the floating crate to drop the explosive, breaking the wall. Then you’ll be able to reach this hidden doubloon.
Gold Doubloon #4: Bard Audition – Through the castle gate, go to the left of the bard audition stage. There’s a fish near a purple button. Ground pound the button to begin a balloon popping challenge. Use Karate Kicks to destroy as many balloons as you can before the time limit is up — this one is simple, you can glide and karate kick, staying mid-air and destroy them all without touching the ground once.
Gold Doubloon #5: Bard Audition – After completing the audition, reach the interior castle walls. On the upper entrance to the castle, there’s a button to the left that spawns a Bubble Surfboard. Ride it and complete the obstacle course before the time limit expires to claim a gold doubloon.
Gold Doubloon #6: Dormitory Hall – Reach the high rafters near the ceiling, then progress toward the second half of the giant room. On this path, you’ll need to use a bounce pad (left side of the room) to reach another set of rafters. Turn right and jump around the pillar to follow a hidden rafter path to the right — using double-jump and glide, you can cross the gaps are reach the right-side of the chamber.
Gold Doubloon #7: Garden Maze – Dropping into the maze, use the purple Reefblower button in the central fountain plaza. Defeat the enemies in the arena that appears to earn a doubloon. This is only available after completing Level 7.
Gold Doubloon #8: Garden Maze – Early in the maze, take a right turn to find a jelly wall and a nearby Reefblower. You’ll need to stand on the stone button to spawn debris to suck up, allowing Spongebob to blast open the jelly walls. You’ll need to navigate the maze, destroying each wall in your path until you reach a Gold Doubloon. While this is a maze, this jelly wall path is fairly linear.
Gold Doubloon #9: Castle Courtyard – Ride the seahorse to Twitchy’s Cottage. On the path to the cottage while riding, look for a wooden platform that ramps up on the left, giving you a path to jump onto a raised platform on the right. Take this optional path to reach a tricky doublon.
Gold Doubloon #10: Twitchy’s Cottage – Grab the Reefblower on the lower ledge near the water, directly to the right of the starting checkpoint. Grab it and go left to two more slime walls. Break one of the walls with the Reefblower and press a button to raise more flytrap pads. Go to the back-right of the area to blast open a final slime wall containing a doubloon.
Gold Doubloon #11: Twitchy’s Cottage – Located on a high rock pillar to the right, visible from the starting checkpoint. To reach it, go to the cottage in the center and glide to the tall stone platform near a flying target. Shoot the target with a bubble to summon a teetering platform.
