Best | Porcelain Pipe Bomb Gets 1-Hit Kills (Borderlands 3)
[NOTE: This OP glitch still works if you own an unpatched physical copy of Borderlands 3. Just delete everything, reinstall offline, and you can still get this grenade.]
The coolest little grenade in Borderlands 3 rounds out our list of the greatest glitches in 2019. This simple pipe bomb isn’t just powerful — it was the most powerful weapon in the game. Getting it is still fairly easy. The grenade is a special reward from the Eden-6 quest ‘Raiders of the Lost Rock’. Find that quest far out in Ambermire, and early-adopters were on their way to damage nirvana.
Instead of dealing a single blast of damage, the grenade self-replicated into multiple mini-grenades, and seemed to unleash an infinite amount of damage on even the most powerful enemies. Unfortunately, this release-day bug was very quickly fixed, but we can all daydream about killing the raid boss with a single grenade thanks to this hilariously powerful glitch.
Worst | Wiping Your Whole Account (Apex Legends)
This terrifying bug has a happy ending. With the 1.1 patch for Apex Legends, some players were sent to an incomplete server — where it appeared their entire account had been wiped. That’s dozens, or hundreds of hours or progress potentially lost in an instant. Thankfully, while it appeared accounts were being wiped, it turned out to just be a server error.
With the ensuing fix, accounts were restored to their rightly place, and nothing was lost. That only makes this a temporary heart-attack bug — the initial shock is the worst part. The aftermath is doable. That makes this terrible bug not-so-bad in the grand scheme of things. When Fallout 76 can’t recover any items when they’re lost, at least Apex Legends fans didn’t actually lose their accounts.
That’s all our favorite (and least favorite) glitches, bugs and exploits in 2019. Cross your fingers and let’s all hope 2020 is better (and worse) for gaming glitches.
