Dragon Quest 11: How To Repair Cobblestone | Post-Game Quest Guide

September 29, 2018 by Kevin Thielenhaus

Unlock one of the best shops in the game and help restore your home town. Here’s how to repair Cobblestone in Dragon Quest 11.

Once you’ve completed the main quest, there are still plenty of activities to experience in Dragon Quest 11. One of those unlabeled quests is actually located in your home town. I don’t want to delve too deeply into spoilers, but things don’t get too well for the hero’s town in the opening hours of Dragon Quest 11.

After defeating the final boss, or just while exploring in the third part of the main story, you’ll be able to revisit your home and do a little renovating. There is no dedicated quest, but talking to just the right NPC will give you the clues you need. There are particular characters you can find across the globe that can help restore your quaint little village back to its former glory.

There’s also an incredible shop waiting for you at the end of this journey. Rebuild your town, and you’ll have access to some of the best weapons and armor in the entire game.

[WARNING: MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD!]

To repair Cobblestone, your hometown, you’ll need to return and talk to Gemma after completing the main game. You’ll need to first travel back-in-time at the Tower of Time, then defeat Mordegan in Heliodor.

After that, you’ll be free to explore the past timeline — including visiting Cobblestone where the villagers have returned. Talk to Gemma (near your old house) and she’ll ask you to find four important people to help rebuild the village. This isn’t a quest, but finding all four will cause Cobblestone to return to its former glory.

  • Where To Find All Four NPCs:
    1. Derk the Merchant is located on Cobblestone Tor, in Cobblestone.
      • Find him on the mountain, being attacked by a monster. Defeat the monster and you can ask him to return to help rebuild Cobblestone.
    2. Vince the MMA Fighter is located in Octagonia, in the Octagonia Underground dungeon. You can reach the underground through the Orphanage.
      • You’ll need to defeat a team of 5 former MMA fighters, and then defeat Arachtagon.
      • Once the fighters are saved, go to the front of the Orphanage and talk to the Underdigger. The two fighters will agree to move to Cobblestone.
    3. Noah the Knower has left Hotto and is staying in Gondolia. The town has been invaded by monsters — talk to the NPC at the front gate to see how many monsters are left.
      • If you leave town, the monsters will all respawn. You need to hunt them down in one run, so be prepared for plenty of fights!
      • You can talk to Noah after clearing the monsters. He’s waiting with his dollar near the front gate.
    4. The magical creature, Jormunn, is located north of Snifleheim, in the Hekswood.
      • Don’t try to fight it just yet! Travel to the Royal Library first to learn how to banish the evil spirit that has inhabited it. On the first floor, you’ll find a book with the information you need.
      • To defeat Malicious Jormunn, you need to finish it off with a lightning spell — Zap, Zapple, Kazap, or Kazapple for example.

Convince all four characters to go to Cobblestone, and you’ll finally rebuild. The town will be restored on your next visit — Derk’s shop also sells incredibly useful, high-powered items you won’t find anywhere else.
