#15 Octopath Traveler
  • Developer: Square Enix, Acquire
  • Publisher: Nintendo

Project Octopath Traveler is an RPG title by developers Square Enix and Acquire. The video game is a 2D 16-bit style RPG where players will control a part of eight different characters, all of which will have a role to play and reason for their journey.

This title will retain the classic turn-based battle system with an added ability of a Boost system. The boost system will allow players to attack an enemy multiple times during a turn if enough Boost Points are acquired.

#14 Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle

  • Publisher: Ubisoft

Mario and the Rabbids franchises have collided with the release of Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle. Developed under Ubisoft, Mario and his new team of Rabbids are against Bowser and his clan. This is a turn-based tactical RPG which is a bit different then majority of the Mario games we’re used to playing. There is even a Donkey Kong themed expansion available if you end up enjoying the base game.

#13 Night in the Woods

  • Publisher: Finji

Night in the Woods is title that has become a favorite for fans of the adventure genre. Within the game, players take on the role of a young character by the name of Mae who dropped out of college.

Now back at her hometown and living with her parents, Mae discovers how much time has passed which changed not only her home but the friends that she grew up with. This adventure title quickly takes Mae into the woods where she begins to uncover a hidden secret that the town kept long ago.

Digging deeper into the history of Possum Springs, Mae will learn of the reason the town’s coal mines were officially shutdown and the disappearance of her childhood friend.

#12 Sonic Mania
  • Developer: PagodaWest Games, Headcannon
  • Publisher: Sega

Sonic the Hedgehog is a staple video game character. Decades have passed since the IP launched and to this day, there are still new Sonic games being pumped out.

Sonic Mania is a side-scrolling platformer that fans of the original Sonic the Hedgehog video game will be familiar with as this particular Sonic title will return to the original gameplay and visual art styles. However, gamers can expect new boss fights, expanded levels along with new elements new to the franchise.

#11 Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze
  • Developer: Retro Studios
  • Publisher: Nintendo

This is another video game title that was originally available on the Nintendo Wii U though after the console received its short lifespan cycle, Nintendo opted to release the game once again for the Nintendo Switch.

Being the fifth main installment to the Donkey Kong County series, players who enjoyed the past installments will find many of the same elements and mechanics to return. As a result, if you enjoy platform titles, solving puzzles and collecting a plethora of items along the way then Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze is an easy recommendation.
