Xbox head, Phil Spencer, recently sat down with IGN to talk about the future of Xbox and the projects that are currently in progress.
First off, Spencer noted that there are no Halo or Gears titles releasing this year. He had stated this before, back when Halo Wars 2 launched, but he has reconfirmed that these franchises have no releases in 2017. However, that doesn’t mean there arent games for Xbox fans.
Spencer reiterates that games like Crackdown 3, State of Decay 2, and Sea of Thieves are all titles Xbox fans should be excited for. In addition, Spencer did say that there might be even more that they have yet to disclose.
“Maybe there’s some things that we haven’t talked about yet.”
Later in the podcast, Spencer discussed the upcoming console release that is known as Project Scorpio. When Spencer first announced the project back at E3 2016, fans have been eagerly wanting more information about the console. Well, like before, Spencer has been praising the console on the quality of graphics and notes that there is a “demonstrable difference between the games that [people] are playing now–on any console.”
“I am very confident in the quality that I’ve seen from the games that we’re launching and how they look on Scorpio,” he said. “When people see games on Scorpio, for those that are close to the detail, they’re going to see a demonstrable difference between that and the games that they’re playing now–on any console. I know that content has to be the thing that we use to demonstrate the capability of the box.”
Phil Spencer stated before, that the Xbox One and Xbox One S will continue to be support for many years to come. Project Scorpio is not a replacement for these consoles, but instead an updated more high-end console release for gamers interested in getting the most performance out of a console.
Expect to hear more news at E3 2017; Project Scorpio is slated to release sometime in 2017
