Arkane Studios has released a new video for Dishonored but it's not your standard trailer showcasing kills and whatnot. This time, the developers are showing us a behind-the-scenes look as part of their video developer documentary series.
In part one, simply titled "Inception," Dishonored co-creative directors Raphael Colantonio and Harvey Smith talk about the game's characters, settings and overall gameplay designs they chose to make the game unique.
In between the developer commentaries, there are little snippets of the game being shown; though they're not exactly things we haven't seen before.
Based on what Arkane is talking about and showing in the video, Dishonored seems to pick little nuggets from other games and implement it in a way that makes it all its own. While first-person games are a dime-a-dozen these days, Dishonored tries to be different in the sense that the player will rely more on his powers and stealth in dealing with enemies.
Think of it like a more bad-ass version of BioShock but one where your gun is replaced by a blade.
Here's to hoping Arkane's gamble in making a new IP and mixing the gameplay up will pay off when DIshonored hits on October 9 for teh PC, Xbox 360 and PS3.
