Back in 2003, the folks over at Ubisoft made Beyond Good & Evil for the PS2/Gamecube/Xbox console generation and PC. Set in the year 2435 on the planet of Hillys, the human and anthropomorphic animal citizens face the threat of an alien invasion. They call themselves the DomZ, and they enslave and suck out the life of the beings they capture. In a vein effort to try and help these folks in danger, the Alpha Sections military force rolls on in to go to war with the aliens. The protagonist, Jade, is a photojournalist who finds themselves in the middle of this war. While the game wasn’t a commercial success at the time, the legacy of it was maintained by the high ratings Beyond Good & Evil received. There was a revival in public interest after Beyond Good & Evil was re-released as an HD remake for Xbox 360 and PS3.

Beyond Good & Evil is available for free for a limited time via the Ubisoft Club system (free to sign-up), as a part of the 30th year mark of the company’s existence. The timing of this is impeccable, considering the fact that Beyond Good & Evil 2 development news had surfaced again. Michel Ansel’s innocuous instagram post hinting at the possibility ended up spiraling into a full confirmation that the sequel was now “in pre-production”, and fans ought to stay tuned for more information.
