After a successful Kickstarter campaign which raised development costs of $38,033 CAD, The Girl and the Robot has an official release date set. Gamers can expect to pick the game up first on Steam this August 18, 2016.
Within The Girl and the Robot, players take control of a young girl who is trapped within a lifeless castle that’s ruled by an evil queen. During her escape from the prison cells, the girl stumbles upon a malfunctioning robot knight. After freeing the robot knight, the duo spark an instant friendship as they help one another escape the clutches of their evil queen captor.
Gamers can expect to solve several puzzles, defeat enemies, and navigate through the in-game world. Additionally, gamers will swap back and forth between the little girl and the robot to solve a variety of different puzzles, as both will come with their own set of abilities.
Now after four years of development, gamers will finally get to try the game out in full later this month. While PC gamers will have the game on August 18, 2016, a press release does state that the game will also see a launch later this year for the Sony PlayStation 4 along with the Nintendo Wii U.
