New Sun and Moon Pokemon, Plus New Forms and Z-Moves!

With the upcoming release of Pokemon Sun and Moon, Nintendo and The Pokemon Company have been periodically releasing new videos detailing what to expect from the game. Today was one of those days. In the most recent of these YouTube clips, they introduced how old Pokemon might have new forms in the Alola region, some new Pokemon, as well as how Gym battling and Z-moves work in this new game.

Pokemon like Vulpix, Sandshrew, and Exeggutor make a return in Pokemon Sun and Moon. But something is different about their appearance, as it seems they’ve adapted to the climate of the Alola region. New Pokemon also debuted. Oricorio is a dance bird Pokemon, whose type is dependent on the style of dance they’re performing at the time. Their special ability allows them to copy an opponent’s dance move if they use it in battle. Minior is a Rock/Flying type Pokemon, with two different forms. Their first form is a closed-up shell that allows them to have an immunity from status afflictions as well as an impressive defense. Once it dips below half HP, the shell opens up into a more offense oriented form. Yungoos gets an evolution called Gumshoos, while Mudsdale’s pre-evolution is revealed to be Mudbray. Two new Pokemon, Fomantis and it’s evolution Lurantis, were seen using a new move called Solar Blade. The ability to ride Pokemon seems to have expanded from what was offered in Pokemon X and Y. Every island has their own specific trials, where the trainer will face off against Captains and Kahunas in order to prove their tenacity. Z-moves are powerful attacks that can be performed once per battle, where the full energy of a Trainer and Pokemon combine to unleash their strength.
