Skylanders often relied on players to pick up actual physical toys to use towards the video game series. However, the latest installment of the franchise, known as Skylanders Imaginators, will finally allow players to create their own unique heroes. However, there is still a slight twist as these characters will have to be stored in what is known as character creation crystals.
Over the years since Skylanders was first introduced to gamers, Activision has always looked to expand and bring out new exciting twists to the video game series. We’ve seen everything from adding vehicles to the ability to swap out certain toy aspects with one another.
The latest installment of the franchise will not focus on any new characters created specifically by Activision, but instead will focus on the creativity of its player base. There will be ten character classes to choose from before players are able to adjust the size, color scheme, various body parts, personality, voice, music themes, among other aspects.
However, before these characters are able to be used, players will have to purchase a creation crystal, which can only store one character creation at a time. With Skylanders biggest competitor Disney Infinity now no longer a threat, it will be interesting to see how well the franchise will pick up.
Skylanders Imaginators will be releasing on October 16, 2016, for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and Wii U. There will be a variety of editions to pick through such as the starter pack that runs at $74.99 to the Dark Edition that is priced at $99.
