Bioware has officially confirmed their imminent shutdown, weeks after its owner company Electronic Arts executed a leveraged buyout to go private.

They shared this statement on social media:
Now, after more than three decades of shared adventures, BioWare is closing and early development on the next Mass Effect project is ending.
There is nothing easy about writing those words. Our focus right now is on our incredibly talented team who put their hearts into these games, and supporting one another through this transition.
Bioware is best known for its run on the Mass Effect and Dragon Age trilogies, which surprisingly only comprised seven of its 30 years of existence. Few fans today know of its pre-EA era as one of the milestone Western RPG developers, reviving the genre in the mid-1990s with Baldur’s Gate.
Subsequently, Bioware became a breeding ground for developers that founded other legendary game studios, such as InXile and Obsidian. Few game studios can claim similar renown, such as Looking Glass Studios or Toaplan.
It’s no justification for its closure to say that it’s remarkable that we had Bioware for as long as we did. Their influence is imprinted across the entire industry to this day.
