As XBOX has moved forward with taking the next Halo to Activision, Halo Studios employees are revealing that they have been laid off online.
Most of these employees expressed sadness, gratitude, and interest in getting hired. But one developer shared an unusual sentiment.
On LinkedIn, former Studio Operations PM Ron B. said this:
They got me, friends. C’est la vie. I’m a jumble of thoughts and emotions, but mostly relief. I was miserable for the last year and a half and it’ll be nice to feel something different.
…I’m going to take a bit, lick my wounds, and listen to the silence for just a bit.
…Be kind to folks (in general, sure. But, definitely with my Halo people today).
Some fans will interpret this to mean that Ron and other Halo Studios staff were stressed about the layoffs. Others will speculate on Halo Campaign Evolved and its potential development troubles.
But we need to bring up Rebs Gaming’s accusations that Halo Studios’ head Pierre Hintze as verbally abusive, neglectful to some developers and cruel to others. It raises questions if XBOX took these claims seriously and where he will land after XBOX’s reset.
