Journalist Gene Park chimed in on Sony cancelling PHYSINT on Hideo Kojima, forcing him to switch partners to XBOX.

In an interview with Moore’s Law is Dead, he said this:
You know, just to be straight up, my bias is I love Kojima. Uh, I love him as a as a person. I started to even consider him, you know, kind of a friend now.
…we actually hung out right before he got the call in June. We were up in New York and partying it up and everything like that.
When Moore’s Law is Dead asked if the cancellation was on Kojima’s radar at all, Gene replied:
Uhm, you know, definitely not. This was a surprise.
Gene went on to criticize PlayStation’s planning in breaking their commitment to PHYSINT. Gene flipped around Schreier’s report, pointing out that Sony mismanaged Bungie and Concord by themselves, leading to the situation where they couldn’t support PHYSINT anymore.
Indeed, if Sony didn’t pay due diligence on PHYSINT’s production, including Kojima’s fighting to keep production going during the pandemic, that doesn’t seem to be Kojima being at fault at all.
