8-Bit Armies came out on PC last month on the 22nd of April. The game has received mostly positive reviews since it’s launch, and the development team has patched and updated it on a pretty regular basis.
Now the retro RTS game receives a substantial update – the Guardians faction. They come with new units and structures that you can use in your battles against the AI or online. The 8-Bit Armies Map Editor also releases in this new update. You can create new maps to use in multiplayer battles, with the ability to upload them to the steam workshop and share with your mates. As you can see by this screenshot below, the editing system allows for a pretty sophisticated degree of imagination and creativity. The ability to tweak even the smallest of details definitely allows original ideas to run wild.
What is 8-Bit Armies? If you were unaware of the game, you’re missing out. It’s a voxel art strategy game where you race to gather resources, build the strongest base you can, and raise up an army to destroy your enemies. There’s a singleplayer mode with 25 campaign missions, but you can also play co-op with a friend if you want (there’s 10 different cooperative missions for you both to take on).
