Without a doubt, one of the “funniest things” to come from the wait for GTA 6 is all the memes and jokes that have amassed thanks to the number of delays that have come from it. Yes, the 5th entry came out in 2013, and it was not immediately stated that the next entry would soon follow, but the belief was there based on past releases. Then, the wait got longer and longer, and then the delays started rolling out, and many are convinced that another delay is inevitable. As such, on GTA Online’s Reddit, some people took a simple sticky note as a “sign of the future.”
The joke is that the sticky note is for the combination to a safe, but many took it as the “date” when the inevitable 7th game in the series comes out. The combination is 01-23-45. Yeah, that’s a long time. Two decades for one game actually isn’t too far off from certain gaps that we’ve had between key titles, but this would indeed be pushing things in terms of “gamer patience.”
Once the joke was made, many people raced to add on to it:
“I would expect something like 1-23-54 so let’s keep our expectations low.”
“Nah fam that’s the real gta 6 release date. It’s gonna get delayed again.”
“For my 65th birthday, what a gift !”
“Cool! We will be getting GTA 7 on January 23, 2145!!”
We appreciate these gamers going and making light of the situation, especially since most really do feel that the next game won’t arrive until 2027, which will make the gap between mainline entries even longer. It’s not the best feeling in the world, now is it?
Ironically, that’s why GTA Online has been such a godsend to many, as people have been able to do all sorts of content within it, including getting some new content recently that gives them new things to do. Many are even speculating about what the online mode will look like when Rockstar Games finally drops the title…in the future…at some point…it’s hard to know, to be honest.
Even still, having a lighthearted approach to things like this is vital when it comes to having problems waiting for something you truly want to get. The title will come eventually, and hopefully, it’ll live up to expectations. Even if it doesn’t, at least you’ll be able to say that it’s out for you to play, instead of having to wait even longer for it.
