Fans Predict Whether GTA 6 Will Use AI In Its Rockstar Editor

September 18, 2025 by Todd Black

Could it work? Would anyone want it?

Of the many issues in the gaming space right now, the question of AI in video game development is one that could have truly far-reaching effects. To be clear, we’re not talking about the natural AI that pretty much all games have via the type used to “control” enemies and make games a certain level of difficulty. We’re instead talking about “generative AI,” where developers merely type in a prompt, and the AI cranks out art, code, or something else for them to use without paying people to make it the “right way.” GTA 6 has already had some wondering if Rockstar may be using AI for certain things, and one fan is taking that in a different direction.

On Reddit, a fan made a post putting out a “prediction” that GTA 6 could use AI not in the main game itself, or even its online mode, but in the Rockstar Editor. For those who don’t recall, the Rockstar Editor is a very popular and special editor that allows fans to create all sorts of videos to have fun with while in-game. One group of players even made a full-on film through the editor, and others have done all sorts of cool things with it to show off their skills.

Anyway, the prediction notes that players will be able to use AI prompts to create special replays from different angles, styles, and so on, allowing them to make videos much quicker. In a picture they used to “visualize” their idea, they showed off some shots with a prompt about making a “gritty, body-cam-style” video.

So, would this be something Rockstar Games considers? It honestly depends on how they feel about AI in general. This would be one of the “grey areas” of using this type of AI, because no one is “losing a job or money” by doing this. Instead, it’s the gamer asking for a specific kind of thing that might take them a very long time to do on their own. Thus, they’re just using the AI to “speed things up.” Plus, the editor itself would need to have plenty of features on its own so that players can do things that might be “beyond the scope” of the title’s AI.

Some of the comments on the Reddit thread were interested in this idea, while others weren’t exactly thrilled at the notion. In the end, it is up to Rockstar Games to make the call, so we’ll have to wait and see what they do.
