Did Apple Just Tease GTA 6 For iPhone?

September 10, 2025 by Todd Black

That’s a new way to do “crime on the go.”

With everyone so hyped about GTA 6 coming out next year, there are bound to be some people “seeing things that aren’t really there” and wondering if certain things/events will happen in conjunction with the game’s release. After all, the title is set to be the biggest release in years, and possibly make billions in its launch week alone. As such, companies from all over will want to be associated with this launch so they can possibly make money off of it themselves. The question that is on certain people’s minds right now is about Apple and whether they just teased the game coming to their phone.

Before you wonder how this came to pass, we’ll let you know. Apple did a huge presentation that got the attention of Reddit for a basic reason. When the company’s project manager, Megan Nash, started to show off the iPhone 17 and how powerful it was, she did so in front of a famous Miami street. Why does that matter?

Simply: GTA 6 is set in Vice City, which is a fictionalized version of Miami! The whole game is meant to show off the wonder and chaos of Florida, and Miami/Vice City will be the focal point in many respects. There was no reason for Apple to have Miami street in the background like that, and yet, there it was for all to see.

So, let’s focus now on the technology element of things, shall we? Apple was the one that helped “crack the code” so that phones could play console-level titles, and there have been some big AAA and AAA-style games on iPhone over the years. Furthermore, Apple is touting that the iPhone 17 could be on par with the MacBook, which is a gaming platform.

Thus, in theory, you could get the Rockstar Games title to work on the iPhone 17. Whether you’d want to do that is another matter entirely. There’s a difference between wanting to play a game on a mobile device like a phone and then something like the Nintendo Switch 2. Then again, some people might be up for the challenge of it. It’s hard to say.

To be clear, there hasn’t been any official word that this is happening, and so you should consider this the very definition of a “rumor” and nothing more.

If it were to come out on iPhone 17, though, that could be a huge win for the company. We’ll just have to let things play out.
