Nintendo has chimed in on their own plans for physical games.

In an interview with YouTuber Coelho no Japão, Nintendo Latin America Vice President and General Manager Bill van Zyll said this:
Look, historically, we’ve been very agnostic, right? We go off of what the consumer prefers and take that into account very heavily.
We also have a platform just launched. We’re barely just over a year into NS2. So, uh and it’s got both, you know, digital, but it also has physical that capability.
So, there’s no plans to uh to ditch physical. We know how much the fans like it as well. So, uh yeah, our position has been to be agnostic.
Of course, this question came up in light of Sony’s decision to stop making physical games for their PlayStation consoles. Nintendo’s own loyalty to physical games came into question when they announced Game-Key Cards, but it seems consumers have changed their mind on that too.
