2025 will see some notable video game releases that will stand the test of time. Some of these massive splashes will also go down in history as a pleasant surprise hit or a title that fans waited ages for. After all, we didn’t see this massive amount of hype built up for Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 before it was released. However, we saw a gigantic community eagerly standing by for the release of Hollow Knight: Silksong.

When you think of indie games, some might not be aware of just how significant an impact these games could make on other studios. One game that is having other studios frantically figuring out a new release date is Hollow Knight: Silksong. That’s all because the folks over at Team Cherry surprised the world by not only giving a release date, but one that was just mere weeks away from its official announcement.

Devs Are Looking To Adjust Their Games’ Release Dates

Silksong is already being dubbed as the Grand Theft Auto VI of indie video games. If you recall, when it was still expected that Grand Theft Auto VI would be released in the marketplace this year, studios were hesitant to reveal release dates. No one wanted to drop their game in the marketplace at the same time, only for their projects to get overshadowed by the new GTA.

That seems to be the case with Silksong and other indie games. Thanks to Aftermath.site, we’re finding out that quite a few new delays were reported by studios due to Silksong. It looks like there’s a fear that if another indie game attempts to launch around the same time as the anticipated Hollow Knight sequel, it will be easily missed. While there could be even more popping up, you’ll find a few sudden delays that have surfaced online.

Indie Games Delayed After Hollow Knight: Silksong Release Date Reveal

  • CloverPit – September 26
  • Stomp and the Sword Miracle Demo/Kickstarter – N/A
  • Aeterna Lucis – 2026
  • Demonschool – November 19
  • Baby Steps – September 23
  • Little Witch in the Woods – September 15

If you haven’t already marked down your calendars, Hollow Knight: Silksong is set to release on September 4, 2025. Meanwhile, it’s already been confirmed that review copies won’t be handed out early.
