It’s officially been a week since the Donkey Kong Bananza Direct, and in that time, fans have taken their hype of the game to a new level. Between watching the Direct and playing the demo that’s available in certain stores, they’re eager to get their hands on the game in full and see everything that the team behind it has to offer. Everything about the title feels fresh, fun, and a perfect way to revive DK’s franchise. Nintendo has been doing its part by revealing more and more about the game through social media posts. Today is no different, as they’ve dropped some new things for fans to keep and watch:
As you’ll see below, we have a video clip featuring the terrifying “Void Company” trying to get back Pauline, but she’s not exactly “eager” to go back with them. The “leader” of the group, the Void King, isn’t too thrilled about this and snaps back at her and Donkey Kong. The video and the screenshots of the event can be seen below:
For those who don’t remember the Direct and thus don’t understand the connection between the two groups, the Void Company is trying to get to the planet’s core to use its wish for nefarious purposes. Somewhere along the way, they not only kidnapped Pauline but they trapped her in stone, making her the “Odd Rock” that we saw in the game’s first trailer and promotional material.
With DK’s help, Pauline breaks out of the rock and asks Donkey Kong to help her get to the core so that she can make a wish that they both get back to the surface to live their lives as they should. Thus, a bond is formed, and the adventure truly begins.
Pauline’s role in the game goes far beyond a “plot MacGuffin,” though. Through Pauline’s singing, DK can go into several “Bananza Forms,” including ones that transform him into a zebra, an ostrich, and a Super Saiyan! More forms are likely within the game, so that’ll be something for fans to look forward to. As if that’s not enough, you can actually use Pauline as a playable character via co-op! She’ll be able to sing words at enemies, and you can even change the composition of her shouts to do even more damage!
All in all, Donkey Kong Bananza looks like an incredible title, and we’re looking forward to each new tease Nintendo does of the game.
