Return to Arkham Comparison Screenshots Show Old Versus New

May 19, 2016 by Ian Miles Cheong

Return to Arkham with an all new engine.

br2a03
Warner Bros. revealed yesterday that Rocksteady’s great Arkham Asylum and Arkham City games are being remastered for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, as well as the PC, using the new Unreal Engine 4.

The remaster offers a vast upgrade in the quality of the game’s graphics, ranging from a bump in texture resolution to more complex shaders and lighting effects. It can be hard for anyone who’s played the original games to think they looked ugly, especially because they didn’t–but our imaginations tend to fill in the blanks and make us remember them looking far better than they actually did.

To that end, a reddit user named blackfire561 put together a series of screenshots comparing the original game with the new one, with stills taken from the reveal trailer.

Check them out below.
