Team 17 has announced recently that Worms W.M.D. will launch globally at retail stores, in boxed copies, through its distribution partners Sold Out and U&I Entertainment. The game will be released across PC, Xbox One and PS4 platforms later this year.

With 2D artwork that recalls the original Worms games, Worms W.M.D. features a fresh new look, offering animated 2D characters and hand-drawn landscapes. For the first time in the series, players will even be able to enter vehicles and buildings, adding new strategic depth to the long-running franchise that began in 1995. Players will be able to ride helicopters, use tanks to bombard enemies while protecting themselves from enemy fire, and more.

The game is set to offer a huge single-player campaign as well as training and challenge modes, though most of the fun is set to happen online for players to compete in matches for up to six players and eight worms per player on each map. That’s 48 worms, in case you can’t do the math.

Check out some new screenshots of the game below.
