Cyberpunk 2077 Nintendo Switch 2 Release Won’t Feature Any Special Crossovers

May 12, 2025 by Dennis Patrick

Don’t expect any new goodies to come across in Night City.

Cyberpunk 2077 was the big RPG release CD Projekt Red was banking on after their incredibly successful installment of The Witcher 3. However, upon launching the game, it was a disaster. Developers had to keep their heads down and work hard to turn this game around. Fortunately, they accomplished this feat, and now the developers are preparing for another release of this game.

When Nintendo rolled out the red carpet last month and debuted the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct, it came with several big reveals. We’ll get our hands on the console next month, and as revealed during that Nintendo Direct, the Cyberpunk 2077 RPG title will arrive as one of the launch titles, releasing alongside the console.

That’s a big deal, and you’ll obviously want to ensure that this game plays incredibly well. As a launch title, you’re among the few games that players will decide to pick up. Fortunately, CD Projekt Red is confident we won’t see another troublesome launch like when the RPG first released. This is according to Charles Tremblay, the Technology VP for CD Projekt Red, who spoke with Nintendo Life.

We’re very confident. We learned a lot from the launch of Cyberpunk 2077 and have spent a long time creating an experience that is now beloved by many. Since then, we’ve successfully released our acclaimed spy-thriller expansion Phantom Liberty — which is included alongside the base game in Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition on Nintendo Switch 2. Thanks to the power of the new console, we truly believe Nintendo Switch 2 players will enjoy the full Cyberpunk 2077 experience. – Charles Tremblay

We know that Cyberpunk 2077 on the Nintendo Switch 2 will have some adjustments to the gameplay mechanics to take advantage of the new features. For instance, we know there are new mouse controls with the Joy-Con 2 controllers.

Mouse controls work very similarly to the PC version. You can use the optical sensor to aim a weapon or select your dialogue options or whatever else you would do when using a mouse traditionally. Gyro is incorporated for players looking for that increased precision but while still using the sticks on the Joy-Con 2 controllers or Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller. Players can aim as they would normally but use gyro (if they like, as this can be turned off) to hit the perfect headshot or whatever else. Finally, touch controls in handheld mode are to make menu navigation much easier. Pinching, tapping, or swiping your way through menus makes you feel like a real netrunner! – Charles Tremblay

However, the big component that some fans might have hoped for is some extra goodies. Since this game is arriving on the Nintendo Switch 2, could we see some potentially Nintendo-themed content in-game? While it might have been neat to see some shirts themed around some of Nintendo’s IP for V to sport, that’s not happening. That said, Charles notes that maybe we’ll see that come to fruition one day.

Wouldn’t that be a great crossover? Who knows — maybe it will come to life one day, but we don’t have such plans at the moment. – Charles Tremblay

Meanwhile, in other news regarding CD Projekt Red, the focus lately has been on The Witcher franchise. We know that the developers were recently celebrating the tenth anniversary of The Witcher 3. However, if you’re more keen on The Witcher 4, we recently reported that the actress behind Yennefer is uncertain if the character will be featured in the game or if she will be returning to voice the character.
