One of Titanfall 3’s leakers has dropped what may be the final word on the rumored project.

Rumors about Titanfall 3 have been going around for years, but a particularly loud round of rumors came up at the start of this week. Unfortunately, we found out the other day that EA laid off staff at Respawn Entertainment. Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier reported that EA laid off as much as 400 workers across the company, with 100 coming from Respawn.
Schreier also claimed that there was a cancelled Titanfall game, and that it was actually an extraction shooter. Schreier claimed that it was early in development when Respawn cancelled it. Notably, this claim completely conflicts with Jeff Grubb’s claims that there was never a Titanfall game in development. And yet, Schreier’s report also conflicts with some details from the recent rumor.
Now, one of the people who started the rumor at the start of April has spoken up. Rebs Gaming helped spread the Titanfall 3 rumor, citing two known dataminers and leakers named YOROTSUKI_ and Osvaldatore. It was Osvaldatore who spoke up today.
Osvaldatore said this:
“Wanted to have the final say since me and @YOROTSUKI_ have started this
Titanfall 3 is gone
Spoke again with source earlier this morning and everything about it was correct, including the “almost finished”, despite what that Bloomberg article said”
As you can imagine, Osvaldatore was challenged on his claims. But he seems to be confident even as it’s clear EA and Respawn will never corroborate it. He responded to someone asking him about it with this:
“I have found my groove of people I can safely cross-reference with, and I can say looking at you straight in the eyes that what I said about TF was correct I’ll let you figure out why I am so confident”
Osvaldatore’s claims are certainly interesting. If Jason Schreier or Jeff Grubb wanted to be 100 % certain, they could contact Osvaldatore and/or YOROTSUKI_ to see what evidence they had and if it would also convince them. But perhaps everyone will be satisfied with just standing by their individual sources and claims.
Because unfortunately, it may not really matter anymore what the truth is. After all these years, Respawn may have wanted to make a new Titanfall game after all. Respawn is definitely well aware they have loyal fans who are still yearning for it. But since even the rumors say the game was cancelled, than there’s not much reason to hope for a new game anymore. It has been nearly a decade since Titanfall 2 released, and Respawn must see that the industry has changed so radically that they may not see even the limited success they had when they last dipped into the franchise.
