Frostpunk 2 was released in September of last year. The follow-up to 11 Bit Studios’ hit city-building survival game is only available on the PC platform. However, we knew the studio aimed to get this game out onto the console sometime this year. Today, the developer dropped a new roadmap, and with it comes confirmation that the console versions of this game are set to land sometime in the summer.
The news came from the Steam store page for Frostpunk 2. Developers are working through a few new notable updates in the coming months. Of course, we still have a long line of support in place for this game, as the roadmap released highlights content slated to land all the way up to 2026.
But more importantly, the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S platforms will receive the game this summer. It’s as narrow of a launch window as we have right now. However, that at least gives us some hope that we’re not too far off from getting our hands on this game. Meanwhile, the developers also made note of two other updates they are currently working towards for the game.
A free major content update for the game will be released on May 8, 2025. Likewise, we’ll get our Spectrum DLC sometime in the autumn. As mentioned, two more DLCs are planned after that. The last noted DLC on the roadmap will not launch until sometime in 2026.
Again, as a quick refresher, Frostpunk 2 is a city-building survival game. Players lead a group that is enduring life in a volcanic winter. Of course, finding supplies in the harsh tundra that has taken over the world and dealing with the moral politics that come with this newfound way of life will not be easy.
While we wait for Frostpunk 2 to land on consoles, the original game is available on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Those curious can try the game out and see if they might be interested in moving along to its sequel when it becomes available.
