Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League Devs Just Removed DRM From Their Failed Game

January 28, 2025 by Dennis Patrick

Let’s move on from this one.

Rocksteady Studios released Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League last year, and boy, was that a poorly received experience. There are plenty of games out there that release horribly but manage to turn around. Let’s just point out CD Projekt Red’s Cyberpunk 2077 game. Remember how rough that game came out into the marketplace? Now, look at the game, as it recently hit a new milestone on Steam.

However, Rocksteady Studios couldn’t turn things around with Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. It had a rough launch and received terrible reviews, and despite hopes of seeing this game supported for the long haul, developers have moved on. Now we’re finding out that the game had just saw its DRM removed which can be seen as a plus generally for fans, but I don’t think this removal is going to see a sudden burst of excitement to play the game.

Thanks to a report from Tech4Gamers, we’re finding out that the Denuvo anti-piracy protection DRM was recently removed. That’s, again, not a surprise, as most games with DRM will eventually see it removed when they are no longer supported. For those unaware, DRM protects the software from being pirated online so that others can freely download and enjoy it.

Meanwhile, plenty of reports online have suggested that adding DRM to games can cause performance issues. So, there are players out there who would like to see DRM removed simply to get the best performance possible.

At any rate, Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League might have been a poorly received game, but that doesn’t mean Rocksteady Studios can’t turn things around with another new game release. After all, their Batman Arkham games were beloved by players worldwide. We’ll have to wait and see what they bring out next. In other related news, we know that the president of Warner Bros. Games has recently announced his departure from the company. However, there was no announcement on who would take his position when he officially left.
