The first month of the new year is almost over. Can you believe it? There have already been plenty of things happening over the last four weeks, and not all of them were good. However, there have been some positive things, and we do have things to look forward to as we progress into February. Thankfully, Nintendo is here to help ensure that the second month of 2025 is just as sweet as the first one was for some. By that, we refer to how the next Splatoon 3 Splatfest has been announced, and once again, it’s all about the chocolate.
That’s right! The iconic 2023 Splatfest about milk chocolate vs. dark chocolate vs. white chocolate is about to get a rematch! If you recall, white chocolate was able to come out on top last time. However, was that a fluke? Was that just the result of certain timing factors? Were the dark chocolate and milk chocolate fans just “not available” for that Splatfest on that weekend? Well, we’ll find out on February 7th when the Splatfest returns for fans to dive into once more!
To those who weren’t here last time, this really is a classic debate, and it speaks to not just fan tastes but the power of chocolate overall. Each one of these chocolate options is made differently, and that’s why they both look and taste differently despite technically all coming from the same place. It’s also poetic that they’re dropping this the weekend before Valentine’s Day, which happens to be one of the biggest holidays that chocolate is sold on. Gee, we wonder why that is.
Jokes aside, it’ll be another fun Splatfest to redebate and see what comes out on top. However, there is another element to this particular Splatfest that we must discuss.
Specifically, the reveal from earlier in January about the Nintendo Switch 2. The system has been confirmed, and Nintendo revealed that the console will get a Direct on April 2nd to unveil all the big games that’ll come out at launch and into the future. Why does that matter here? Simple: the Splatoon 3 revivals and Splatfest continuations can’t keep going on forever. Many expect Nintendo to drop the reveal for the 4th game at the April Direct, which would line up with how they did things for the OG Switch.
Thus, we could be on one of the last Splatfests before things get shifted toward the next game.
