Nintendo Switch 2 Hype Helps Lead To Sharp Intake In Stock Value

December 18, 2024 by Todd Black

We’re all waiting for the boom…

As the year draws ever closer to an end, the biggest question of most people’s minds is, “Where is the Nintendo Switch 2?” That is the question, isn’t it? It’s one that is fair to ask, given the distinct lack of information about it within the gaming space and all the numerous leaks and reports about what it may or may not look like or have at launch. In short, there’s plenty of speculation about the next Nintendo console but no true confirmations about it, save that it will be released in 2025 at some point during the next fiscal year.

However, if you think that this “lack of info” is hurting Nintendo in any meaningful way, then you haven’t been paying attention to its stock value. If you check out the tweet from insider Stealth, you’ll see that The Big N’s stock price has hit an all-time high in Japan. That’s impressive on multiple counts, including how the OG Switch has seen a fair drop in overall sales due to people waiting on its successor.

What this proves is that people are eagerly awaiting the reveal of the Nintendo Switch 2 and want to be invested in Nintendo when that happens:

Why are people so invested in it, though? The honest truth here is that Nintendo has been dominating the gaming market for about seven years straight. That might sound odd, given Sony and Microsoft are also in this space, but they’ve been dealing with plenty of issues over the last several years. Nintendo, however, took a risk with the Switch, and it paid off. it’s been rewarding gamers ever since. The lineup of 1st party titles alone has made the console one of the best gaming systems ever, and many feel that the Switch 2 could match or surpass that.

After all, Nintendo’s leaders have said that they wish to learn from the Switch’s success and make a true transition from one platform to the next. To that end, The Big N has already revealed that the two consoles will have backward compatibility, ensuring that the OG Switch’s library will play on its successor. We also know that Nintendo Switch Online and the My Nintendo accounts will transfer over to the new system, allowing people to download the games they have saved on their accounts and ensure a familiar vibe as they get the Switch 2.

There are plenty of rumors about a January reveal date for the next console. We’ll have to wait and see if it’s true.
