In his quest to further dominate the gaming world, Geoff Keighley is once again getting ready to host Gamescom Opening Night Live. The show will take place in Germany next week when the beloved gaming event opens. Much like with Summer Game Fest and The Game Awards, the showcase will feature developers of all kinds coming in to talk about the upcoming titles that gamers can look forward to. However, what many people are interested in is whether there will be brand new games being shown off on the opening night. To that end, Keighley has made it clear that there will be.
He made a post on Twitter yesterday about the games that will be at Gamescom Opening Night Live, and he followed it up with confirmation that new games will be unveiled:
On the one hand, this is a big boon for the showcase and will get some eyes on it. Plus, we know there will be some new game trailers and insights that weren’t specifically mentioned in Keighley’s tweet above. Thus, we know that even more games are being unveiled in some fashion. However, you have to wonder what kinds of new games will be revealed and whether they’ll be worth our time.
You might recall that during Summer Game Fest, Keighley did his best to hype up the show while not being overt about how many games would be shown off or how many new games would be shown. To that end, many considered the summer event a dud when there wasn’t much of note to talk about. Can you even remember something that happened at the Summer Game Fest?
Regardless of your answer, Gamescom will have plenty to offer fans. Just going off of Keighley’s tweet, getting more information about Call of Duty Black Ops 6 is enough to get people excited. Recently, they’ve been dropping plenty of trailers about its new zombie campaign, Terminus. They’re going back to the Dark Aether storyline and bringing in some old faces to try and “settle things up” there.
Then, there’s Capcom, who is gearing up for its next big release in its monster-fighting world. They have also been dropping trailers to get people excited for the “Wilds” they’ll end up in, including some overviews of the game’s basic mechanics.
Xbox as a whole will have a big presence at Gamescom, with numerous titles for people to check out and play. So, when August 20th comes around, it’ll be a fun time.
