Twisted Metal was released on PS3 yesterday in the States, we Europeans will have to wait a little while longer. Some people are probably already wondering where the series will go from here: Jaffe has mentioned a potential sequel more than once and rebuilding a community for that might be top on Eat Sleep Play's to-do list, with or without Jaffe. Perhaps nothing will help boost that community more than a major motion picture, announced by Sony yesterday.
The film will be written and directed by Brian Taylor – best known for Crank and Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance – who has accepted a seven-figure offer for his work on the film. It'll be interesting to see how this goes, how that over the top vehicular action will translate to the screen. Put it like this, I'm not exactly getting my hopes up.
Although, who knows, perhaps something impressive WILL come out of this project and, if nothing else, it's bound to up sales on the game somewhat.
