Saber Interactive Has Shared An Update On Their Projects Post-Embracer

March 15, 2024 by Ryan Parreno

Saber has even more games under wraps, which may include one famous game they still won’t admit they’re working on.

Saber Interactive has shared an update on their upcoming projects, after going independent again.

On Twitter, Saber’s Chief Creative Officer, Tim Willits, shared this update:

“I have received a lot of questions concerning the status of some of our previously announced projects now that Saber has separated from Embracer.

I’m happy to confirm we’re still working on a number of titles, including Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando, and Jurassic Park: Survival. We’re so excited about these titles and can’t wait to share more with everyone soon.”

The first thing we should note is that Tim named three titles, but clarified that they have even more games in the works. Jurassic Park: Survival itself was just announced in last year’s The Game Awards, comparatively recently compared to other titles. It’s clear that Saber has even more projects under its wing, that they simply haven’t announced yet.

Jurassic Park: Survival is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, though no release date has been revealed. It’s a survival game that ties itself to the very first movie, as you play a new character who was apparently left behind just after John Hammond and the other characters we already know and love escaped with the park attractions running amuck.

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 has been publicly known for much longer, with the title being announced in the 2021 The Game Awards. It has then subsequently made an appearance in the two The Game Awards that occurred in the following years, raising concerns on the progress of the project.

But, perhaps, Saber simply announced the title in the middle of its development. If this recent shift back to independence clears them of whatever potential issues they had being under Embracer, then hopefully they will stick to their last announced release date. Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 should release on September 9, 2024, on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando was revealed in 2023’s Summer Games Fest. This is a zombie FPS, but leaning on some 80s nostalgia, with zombies that look more like Resident Evil’s T-Virus zombies than the more human looking zombies of the silver screen. This one is also coming this year, on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, where it happens to be an Epic Game Store exclusive.

Of course, we would be remiss if we did not point out the one famous title rumored to have been passed onto Saber Interactive, after Aspyr’s work on it was turned down by Sony. Neither Embracer, Aspyr, or Saber have confirmed that work on the Knights of the Old Republic remake was moved from Aspyr to Saber, but the word going around unofficially on the rumor mill is that Embracer and Saber will continue to work on the title.

As for unannounced titles, of course, we simply have to wait for Saber to officially reveal them. Maybe they will, after these three games they named come out this year.
