Persona 3 Reload Gets Shining Reviews From Critics

January 30, 2024 by Todd Black

Another great remake!

There’s always a moment of worry and hesitation right before a new game comes out. Regardless of the system or who made the game, if the title is anticipated and someone really wants to play it, there’s a moment where they wonder if it’ll turn out well. That’s why so many people go to video game reviews before buying the title to see what others think and perhaps guide them on whether to get the game. February 2nd has two big titles coming out, and one of them is Persona 3 Reload, which critics say is one of the best remakes of recent times.

Currently, it has an 89 score on Metacritic, with 46 reviewers weighing in. Just as important, 45 of the 46 have given it a “Positive” ranking. You can see some of the review scores for Persona 3 Reload below; you’ll notice quickly how high most of them are:

But what are they saying specifically about the game to earn this high score? Well, the consensus is that Atlus did an incredible job reviving their company-saving title by mixing in new graphics with improvements to the gameplay system so that anyone and everyone can play it without worry of “missing out” on something. One review even called it a “masterclass” in preserving the game’s original story and content while also growing it and making it feel more modern in the best way.

In fact, the only real “negatives” that people were stating about the remake is that Atlus was perhaps a bit “too faithful” to the source material and didn’t include some of the story content that was deemed “better” by fans in the later ports. Some minor oddities continually popped up because they tried to stay true to the original title.

Even with those issues, this proves that the game is something that newcomers and veteran Persona users will enjoy.

The game puts you as a transfer student who joins a group called “S.E.E.S” to try and bring an end to the mysterious “Dark Hour.” That hour brings forth monsters known as Shadows, who are slowly corrupting Japan through their presence. As you scale the tower known as Tartarus, you’ll slowly unravel the mystery of what’s going on, and with each full moon, you’ll face powerful enemies in an attempt to save the world.

So build your relationships, get stronger Personas with each month that passes, and do what must be done to win!
