Microsoft Offers Tips For New Xbox Series X/S Owners

December 18, 2023 by Dennis Patrick

Were you gifted an Xbox Series console this holiday?

The Xbox Series X/S is Microsoft’s big console platform they are pushing. With the console just getting into its lifecycle, plenty of players are likely to find themselves receiving this platform. Whether you purchased one yourself or find an Xbox Series X/S nestled under the Christmas tree, Microsoft has a few tips to share. Taking to the official Xbox Wire blog, we have some tips to give players on how to get started with the console.

These tips for players with experience setting up consoles might not be warranted. However, knowing what to do is more than welcome if you’re a newcomer. It all starts with the initial setup, which is rather straightforward. That includes unboxing the console and setting up the cables. Typically, you’re just dealing with an HDMI and a power cable, which are simple enough to install. From there, you just have to go through the on-screen prompts to connect to your wif-fi and set up your account. You can sign in with your account if you’re coming from a past Xbox console like the Xbox One.

It’s worth noting that there are some additional settings you can dabble into if they are of interest. These include family settings, an energy-saving mode, and accessibility features. Again, you can find a variety of helpful options from these setting menus. But once you’re all set up and ready to go, there’s one major tip that Microsoft is hopeful you’ll take advantage of, especially if you’re new to this generation of console gaming.

That tip is getting a subscription for Xbox Game Pass. This subscription service opens up a large collection of video game titles to enjoy. Likewise, it’s worth pointing out that all of Microsoft’s first-party Xbox titles are featured on Xbox Game Pass. So past game hits like Halo Infinite and Bethesda’s current release, Starfield, are available to download and enjoy. Furthermore, if you subscribe to the more premium tier of the subscription service, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, you’ll gain access to online multiplayer and EA Play titles. In the meantime, you can view more detailed tips from the folks over at Microsoft right here. Furthermore, if you’re looking for some insight into the actual Xbox consoles themselves, we have our Before You Buy coverage on for the Xbox Series X below.
