The anticipation for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth grows with every week that goes by and every piece of news that gets put out for it. In the game, we’ll finally get to set foot outside of Midgar and see the world of Gaia for the most part. Square Enix has already highlighted certain cities and areas we’ll visit, including the final “fateful” location that will end the game. But there are still many mysteries surrounding the title that we won’t get answered until we play it. For example, there’s the issue with Zack Fair and his role in the remake saga.
The character is vital to the storyline and its characters. Zack Fair is the best friend of Cloud Strife, and the two worked together to stop Sephiroth after he finds out about Jenova. However, the struggle to keep Cloud safe cost Zack his life, and as such, Cloud accidentally “took his memories” and thought that he was the Soldier First-Class that Zack was. The revelation shattered Cloud in many ways but also set up his future. However, in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, Zack Fair is alive, as proven by the secret cutscene at the end of the first remake title.
At the Thailand Game Show 2023, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Director Naoki Hamaguchi spoke with various media journalists, including One More Game, and answered a big question about the “role” Zack Fair will play in the sequel:
“Zack will play an important role as a major character,” and also noted gamers will love ““what will the world be, how will the world move, and what will the players encounter.”
That last part about “encounters” is absolutely something that players are looking forward to, as there will be MANY encounters, both big and small, as they explore the world. Again, you won’t be able to explore everything, such as the country of Wutai, but you can explore vast cities, travel across the land in vehicles, ride chocobos, and more!
Plus, there are the new characters you’ll interact with on various levels. Cait Sith, Yuffie, and Vincent will all be found by the main Avalanche crew, and all but Vincent will be active members you can put into your party. Plus, Red XIII will be playable, so you’ll get to enjoy the “lab rat dog” more than ever before.
Additionally, there will be new summons, new foes to face, new revelations, and new twists to the story that could change how people remember this game when it comes out on February 29th.
