Starfield Character Backgrounds, Traits, and Skills Get Detailed

August 28, 2023 by Dennis Patrick

Fans have transcribed everything from leaks.

Starfield fans are eagerly counting down the days for Bethesda’s next major RPG release. This game has been highly anticipated for years and started well before Microsoft acquired the company through the ZeniMax Media purchase. However, now that we’re just a little over a week away from the game’s official launch, not counting the early access, fans are taking up with leaks to gain a little more insight into the game. For instance, a new Reddit post has some insight into a few areas of the game you might be keen on checking out.

Again, this is content coming from supposed leaks. So you might still want to wait and see for yourself if anything from the Reddit post proves to be accurate when the game launches. However, Reddit has a post showcasing a wide range of details for the upcoming RPG. This includes complete breakdowns for backgrounds, traits, and skills. That could help you pinpoint what to expect when building up your character in Starfield.

We won’t be listing the leaked content directly here, but you can find this information through the Reddit post right here. Essentially, backgrounds are mandatory to pick from, ranging from various interesting backstories to your characters. This can be anything from a character hunting down beasts, a bouncer for clubs, a skilled chef, and so much more. But then there are also traits that you’ll supposedly get to pick up to three for your character.

Traits further tweak your character, but instead of their background, you’re adjusting different unique attributes, such as being equipped with alien DNA that grants you additional health and oxygen or having the ability to access special dialogue options. Similar to the backgrounds, these are quite varied and will further adjust your character toward your play style.

Lastly, skills are something you can continue to tweak, much like other Bethesda RPGs. You’ll get to fine-tune your character and buff them up in specific areas that complement your playstyle. Of course, you might find yourself going through the game campaign a few times, such as Phil Spencer. We recently reported how Phil spent over 200 hours in the game trying out different builds.

Again, Starfield is nearly here; Players can expect the game to drop on September 6, 2023. In fact, you can check out when the game will be released in your specific area right here. But when this game is released into the marketplace, you’ll find it available for the PC, Xbox Series X/S, and the Xbox Game Pass subscription service.
