Tony Khan Claims AEW Fight Forever Made “Great Revenues”

August 22, 2023 by Todd Black

A successful launch?

We’re a few days away from the start of one of the most important weeks in the history of All Elite Wrestling. We say that because the wrestling company is about to have its biggest wrestling show ever, and then a week later, they will have another big event on a separate continent. AEW All In London will host over 82,000 people, making it the largest paid attendance event in wrestling history. To celebrate that event, AEW President Tony Khan did a press event this morning, and in it, he talked about AEW Fight Forever and how it was doing.

The game came out at the end of June, around the time of their Forbidden Door PPV, and while it didn’t get the best ratings from the critics, gamers seemed to love it. At the press event, Tony Khan apparently said that the game had a “successful launch” and they were making “great revenues” from it. He further praised how the game would introduce the Stadium Stampede mode soon.

Khan didn’t specifically say how well the game was doing, but while he is known for being in “promoter mode” at times, he’s not known for lying to boost his product. In fact, he’s gone out of his way at points to ensure that he doesn’t lie to fans. So if he said the game had a successful launch, it would appear that is what happened.

Then again, you could argue that what is a “successful launch” for Tony Khan isn’t the same number that other people would have. We’ll have to wait and see the official numbers when AEW releases them.

As for the Stadium Stampede mode will be a unique addition to AEW Fight Forever because it won’t play like anything you’ve ever seen in a video game. The mode will feature 30 players battling it out inside a massive stadium where anything goes, and anything can happen. As you can see in the screenshot above from the mode, that includes being able to re-enact the legendary moment Hangman Page rode a horse through the arena.

It’s interesting that Tony Khan brought up Stadium Stampede, as that’s something we’ll see at All In London. That show is AEW’s biggest gamble, and it paid off in spades. Then, one week from Sunday, they’ll return to the US for their annual All Out show in Chicago. So it will be a busy week all the way around.
