Samoa Joe Is Up For Being In AEW Fight Forever

July 24, 2023 by Todd Black

The king of television wants to be a king in video games once more.

While its development was not the easiest for various reasons, AEW Fight Forever was finally released in late June, and those who have played it have enjoyed it. They dug the arcade-style gameplay, the hilarity that some matches can have, and more. But most importantly, they enjoy being able to play as many of their favorite members of the AEW roster, including characters like Kenny Omega, The Young Bucks, Jon Moxley, Hikaru Shida, Kris Statlander, Jade Cargill, and more. But as many fairly note, a large part of the AEW isn’t in the game, including many who are “current stars” with the company.

One of those stars is the “One True King of Television,” Samoa Joe. Joe has been a star in wrestling for some time, making his name in places like Ring of Honor and Impact Wrestling before heading to NXT and dominating it. His run on the mainline WWE roster wasn’t the best due to injuries and bad booking, but things changed for the better once he came to AEW. He instantly helped breathe life back into the newly reborn Ring of Honor with his return to the brand and helped elevate AEW in many ways. He was even one of the many superstars used to highlight their new program, AEW Collision.

But as noted, AEW Fight Forever is something you won’t find him in. Part of this is due to when he arrived in AEW compared to when the game was made. It wouldn’t be easy to put him in the title then, but the DLC is another story. He fully admitted to ComicBook.com that if he was to be put in the DLC, he’d be fine with it:

“As of right now, I have not been told there is any plans, but then again, I’m often not told most plans when it comes to stuff like that,” Joe said. “So you should really take that with a grain of salt. I will say this, I know the developer is really, really dedicated to, to putting out the best, most authentic experience ever. If everything goes well, I would not be surprised to see Samoa Joe in future DLC.”

Before the game arrived, fellow AEW star Evil Uno stated that the game would have “continuous DLC” rather than do the yearly release model that WWE does. So that could easily mean that we’ll get another announcement once the current DLC set is done. That announcement could contain Samoa Joe and many others.
