Tears of the Kingdom Fans Discover New Duplication Glitch

May 31, 2023 by Todd Black

Another one…

Since pretty much the dawn of gaming, gamers have wondered if they can use special techniques to either cheat the game or do something the game wasn’t expecting. These “cheat codes” eventually became canon through certain titles, and as games grew more advanced and complicated, more glitches came through that players utilized to their advantage. In The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom, gamers have been trying to think “outside the box” as much as possible to get through shrine quests, temples and to defeat monsters. But they’ve also tried to figure out how to duplicate items to profit from them.

Why do they need to do that? Well, in the game, there are certain items that you want/need to buy to help you on your journey. Specifically, plenty of armor pieces can be vital for traversing certain areas or going through the main temples. But rupees can be surprisingly hard to get if you don’t know where to look. Mining items like rubies, sapphires, opals, and diamonds can help, but they’re not something the game gives out in ready supply.

So, gamers found ways to duplicate them via certain glitches in the game. The most popular one involved attaching items to your bow and doing a special switch-out glitch that would let the item duplicate. However, Nintendo “remedied” that glitch so you can’t use it if you’ve updated the game recently.

But don’t give up hope!

Because gamers kept diving into Tears of the Kingdom and figured out that there was another way to do the duplication glitch. We’ll admit it’s a little complex, but if you want to do it, you can watch the video below and see what steps you need to take:

Again, don’t do this unless you really feel you need to do it. But, if you are willing to do it, you can do things like duplicating diamonds, which are 500 rupees, when you sell them, and soon have a large stockpile of rupees to get all the armor and items you could want.

No doubt more glitches will be used to exploit the game as time goes on. Gamers are having a blast trying to make their way through the game on their own terms and figuring out how to “go beyond intentions.” We’ve done it a few times ourselves.

That’s the beauty of the title, to inspire freedom and creativity wherever you go and in whatever you do.
