Naughty Dog has released the latest Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End behind the scenes video, in which members of the development team get rather emotional as they wave goodbye to Nathan Drake.
With Drake’s story soon concluding, the staffers discuss their relationship with the rogue and what the Uncharted series means to them.
Some of the game’s voice actors including Nolan North, Richard McGonagle, and Emily Rose also pitch in with their thoughts. Quite a few people get more than a little emotional during the video.
Previous entries in the making of series have looked at the evolution of the Uncharted franchise, how they’re pushing the power of the PlayStation 4 to its limits with Uncharted 4, and how Nathan Drake has changed over the years.
From what we’ve seen so far, Uncharted 4 will see Drake reflect more seriously on how he’s lived his life than we’ve seen before and ask some difficult questions about the future he wants. It seems Drake misses a life of adventure, however, and teams up with his long-absent brother, Sam, for the treasure hunt of a lifetime.
Drake’s partner, the journalist Elena Fisher, is none too pleased by that particular development.
Uncharted 4 has had a somewhat troubled development cycle, suffering several delays and a complete rewrite two years ago when original writers Justin Richmond and Amy Hennig left the studio. They were replaced by Neil Druckmann and Bruce Straley, who wrote the first two Uncharted games and acted as directors on The Last of Us.
Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End is set for release on May 10th on PlayStation 4.
