Bethesda Softworks has announced that its Day of Doom tournament will begin today at 15:00 PT.
The tournament features the first-ever live stream of Doom’s competitive multiplayer modes and will be viewable via Rooster Teeth’s YouTube Gaming channel, the company said in a press release.
“The 6v6 single-elimination tournament will feature never-before-seen gameplay from DOOM’s upcoming Closed Beta and will pair top professional athletes with major YouTube stars,” Bethesda commented.
The full list of participants is as follows:
- Antonio Brown (Pittsburgh Steelers) + Justine Ezarik (iJustine)
- Thierry Henry (Formerly New York Red Bulls) + Alia Shelesh (SSSniperWolf)
- Rob Gronkowski (New England Patriots) + Michael Jones (Achievement Hunter)
- Chad “OchoCinco” Johnson (Formerly Cincinnati Bengals) + Adam Kovic (Funhaus)
Doom fans can follow the action on Rooster Teeth’s channel as well as Twitter or Facebook using the #FightLikeHell hashtag.
Details about Doom’s six multiplayer modes were originally revealed in February before Bethesda and developer id Software provided additional details earlier this month. Nine maps will feature in the game: Infernal, Chasm, Disposal, Helix, Perdition, Sacrilegious, Heatwave, and Beneath. Information about the maps and what to expect from each can be found here.
At the start of the month, fans chose an alternative cover for id’s shooter, after the original was widely criticised as underwhelming.
According to emails sent by Sony today, the game’s closed multiplayer beta is set to begin at 22:00 ET on March 31st, and will run until April 3rd at 23:59 ET. Sony says the test can be pre-loaded tomorrow on PlayStation 4.
Doom is set to launch on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on May 13th.
