Rumor: Next Mortal Kombat Game Guest Characters Have Been Leaked

May 12, 2023 by Dennis Patrick

Here is what’s being shared around today.

The next major installment to the Mortal Kombat franchise is being teased online. If you missed the latest teaser drop, it featured a clock that glitches out just before a minute passes. That has left some fans wondering if Mortal Kombat 12 might actually be a reboot for the series, pushing it to just being titled Mortal Kombat. We know that the last installment hints at timelines, which has caused quite a bit of anticipation within the fan community.

However, we’re still left waiting for the next installment to get a proper reveal. Going into June, we have several showcases planned, so perhaps one of those will highlight the game. Of course, there are also rumors that we could see Sony bring out their PlayStation Showcase this month, and that could finally unveil the next thrilling chapter to the Mortal Kombat franchise. But according to sources from Windows Central, we might already have some insight into a couple of the guest characters that might appear in the game.

Their sources have told them that players can expect guest characters to show up from different Warner Brothers properties. The two characters that were specifically mentioned were DC Comics Peacemaker along with Homelander from The Boys. So it could mean that these characters will readily be available at launch for the next Mortal Kombat game or will be one of the first few characters introduced in a later DLC launch.

Mortal Kombat has featured various guest characters and franchises in the past. We’re expecting the very same thing in this upcoming installment. So it’s just a matter of time before these characters start leaking out or getting teased for the next installment. But we know at least two characters that will not likely appear in the next Mortal Kombat game. For instance, one of the previously teased characters that fans assumed was making an appearance in Mortal Kombat 11 was Ash Williams.

Ash Williams from the Evil Dead franchise would have been a solid choice for Mortal Kombat. Still, the actor that portrays Ash, Bruce Campbell, has already shot down the idea of lending Ash out to another property, especially when they have Evil Dead: The Game in the marketplace.

NOPE. I don’t want to see fatalities on her.

I mean … MK12? What are you talking about? 🤔 https://t.co/hAChXAcC59

Furthermore, the creator behind Mortal Kombat, Ed Boon, told a fan that he doesn’t want to see The Last of Us Ellie in the game because of the gnarly fatalities this series is known for. Some fans might have assumed this character would have shown up, especially after The Last of Us featured a scene about Ellie’s love for Mortal Kombat.
