You may not have realized it, but The Legend of Zelda Tears Of The Kingdom is only a month away from release on Nintendo Switch. It may have slipped your mind because the game has been in the works for years, was announced in 2019, and has been delayed several times. It’s a little hard to fathom that we’ve come so far, and now the game isn’t out of reach. Nintendo knows how much fans want to see and hear more from the game, so they’ve decided to do something a little different tomorrow to celebrate its upcoming arrival.
Specifically, Nintendo has announced that Tears Of The Kingdom will be getting its final pre-launch trailer tomorrow! But in a unique twist, they won’t simply “drop it online” as other titles would. Instead, they will do a livestream for it on their YouTube channel. That’s a very odd choice because, to our knowledge, Nintendo has never done a livestream of a trailer. They’ll typically use livestreams for things like their Nintendo Directs, the Treehouse gaming sessions, or their Nintendo Live events if we’re lucky. So this will be something to check out for numerous reasons:
If nothing else, it does show that Nintendo understands the hype for the game, and they want to make the next trailer something more like an “event” versus “just another trailer.” But that raises the question that many fans are no doubt wondering: “What will be in the final trailer?”
The reason that’s an important question is because the trailers we’ve seen so far for the game have been “restrictive” in what we see, hear, and can gather information on. For example, we know Link is hurt and gets a new arm that grants him special powers. But was it Ganondorf that did that? Furthermore, we’ve been teased with a new race of creatures that might help save the day, but we’ve only seen them in “hieroglyph” form.
There’s also been no mention of the overall path Link will have to take on this new journey. Before, we had the Sacred Beasts and their guardians we had to save, so what is the reasoning for going to all the floating islands in the sky?
While we won’t get all the answers we want, fans do want more than a simple gameplay/action trailer. They need something new to hold onto until the game releases next month. We’ll find out soon if they get what they wish for.
