Wargaming has announced that a new line of vessels is available for World of Warships: Soviet cruisers. In a press release, the developer said it had created a full tech tree branch featuring nine warships with the content going live today in North America.
Players in Europe and Asia will be able to access the Soviet cruisers from tomorrow, March 24th.
Wargaming says these ships have been developed with the strength and speed needed to help you become “a scourge of the seas” but Soviet cruisers are not meant to rush battles. Instead, you can use their long range to fire at the enemy while being safe from retaliation. Their speed is the cruisers’ greatest asset, allowing players to adjust tactics quickly during battles.
“We started developing the Soviet cruiser branch over two years ago,” World of Warships Global Publishing Producer Artur Plociennik commented. “We spent a lot of time getting these vessels as authentic as possible, and we can’t wait for players to head into battle and take full advantage of their great speed and firepower.”
One of the new vessels is the Project 26 Kirov cruiser, which comes equipped a unique weapons set that’s like “nothing else” in World of Warships. Another ship is the Project 66 Moskva, which in reality only ever reached blueprint and was devised as the USSR’s answer to the USS Des Moines. As Wargaming notes, you can now see for yourself which vessel would have come out on top.
More information on Update 0.5.4 and the Soviet cruisers can be found on the World of Warships website.
