Ubisoft Toronto Reportedly Aiding Development For Future Far Cry Games

April 7, 2023 by Dennis Patrick

The Next Far Cry game has yet to be officially unveiled.

The future of the Far Cry franchise hasn’t been announced directly by Ubisoft quite yet. However, we have seen a couple of reports pop up online. But today, thanks to another report from Insider Gaming, we’re learning that Ubisoft Toronto might be aiding in the development of future Far Cry games. This, of course, hasn’t been officially talked about just yet by Ubisoft, and it might still be a franchise that doesn’t get a mention this June either during the Ubisoft Forward. But here’s what is apparently being circulated online right now.

A new report from Insider Gaming unveiled that Ubisoft Toronto will now help Ubisoft Montreal when it comes to developing the next Far Car video game. It looks like the folks over at Ubisoft Toronto have gathered together recently and checked out both the Splinter Cell game and the new Far Cry project coming out. In fact, after highlighting this gathering, the studio alerted followers that they were actively employing more developers. Those interested can check out the job listing page for more details. Currently, their job listing page does highlight certain roles being requested for both Splinter Cell and Far Cry.

Of course, details about these games are still unclear as Ubisoft has yet to unveil them fully. In fact, we had conflicting reports recently about Far Cry in particular. There was a report from Insider Gaming that two Far Cry projects were in the works. If believed to be true, Far Cry will have a new installment set in the wilderness of Alaska and a spin-off multiplayer component set within the same region. However, there was another industry insider that made a claim suggesting that the next Far Cry project hasn’t even started development yet.

With Ubisoft having a bit of a struggle in 2023 with game cancellations, delays, and even pulling out of E3, we’re not sure just when we’ll be getting the next major reveal for either of these two projects. It could be that the development is too early in production for a public showcasing. However, despite pulling out of E3 and E3 this year being canceled, there will be a Ubisoft Forward stream this June. That could be our first look into the next Far Cry game. Otherwise, it might be a project we may not hear about until potentially next year.
