Dredge has 5 main locations to visit, with each location being filled to the brim with unique dangers, NPCs, quests, and fish. Whilst The Marrows are wonderfully simplistic in design, stretching your sea legs and exploring the ocean will lead to some staggering revelations. You never know what awaits you when you venture into deep waters.
What will likely be your third location (after The Marrows and Gale Cliffs) is the Stellar Basin. This is one of the more memorable locations as it has quite a few tricks up its sleeve. Not only is it incredibly dangerous to navigate, but getting there can be a bit of a hassle if you aren’t prepared.

Why Go To The Stellar Basin
The biggest question would be: “Why would you go to the Stellar Basin?’. Outside the promise of new fish or the sense of adventure, there is one major reason why you would end up here. During ‘The Collector’ Pursuit, which can be started on Blackstone Isle, you will be tasked with going to the Stellar Basin to retrieve a Relic.
This will be your first nudge to venture towards this mysterious new location, although you may want to prepare a bit before you head off. The Stellar Basin is an unusual place filled with unusual things.
How To Get To The Stellar Basin
Getting to the Stellar Basin requires you to head southwest from The Marrows. This journey is safe enough during the day as there are not many rock formations along the path. It is quite a lengthy journey, however, and it may change to night before you get there if you don’t have strong enough engines.
You could use your Haste ability to speed up the journey, just be aware of potentially blowing out an engine. Heck, overreliance on it will cause you to rapidly gain Panic, which is never a good thing.
There are two main obstacles when approaching the Stellar Basin. One is a sea monster that will attack you – typically in the deep ocean. This creature will damage your boat and cause your equipment to break. If it damages an engine, this can be devastating. Everything else is expendable in comparison.
The second threat – and one you will want to keep Haste on standby for (Panic be damned) – is the tornado. This thing will spawn in the distance and then rapidly head for you. It will even change its course and track you if you try to dodge. If you use Haste, however, you can quickly zip to the side and avoid it. Do be warned it will turn around and try and attack you from behind. Swing your camera around and get ready to dodge a second time – again, using Haste.
If you are caught out at night, beware of any jagged rocks. You can quickly end up sinking if you aren’t careful. Especially if you have taken damage from other sources prior.
What Is At The Stellar Basin
Providing you have made it to the Stellar Basin in one piece, you are ready to explore. The question is, what is there to find here? There are three points of interest marked on your map, the Research Outpost, Old Fortress, and Starlight Pontoon. The Research Outpost contains some narrative intrigue as well as some valuable Research Parts. The Old Fortress leads to a Pursuit, and the Starlight Pontoon can fix up your boat in a pinch (as well as buy your fish).
Of course, you can also find the Ring here, a relic for the Collector, but to do that, you are going to have to deal with the giant sea monster that lives at the centre of the Stellar Basin. Approaching this location will see your vision warp and contort as something truly unnatural tears at the fabric of your psyche. Get too close, and it will do more than mess with your mind.
Giant tentacles can be seen from a distance just under the surface, and if you dare get too close, they will almost instantly destroy your boat. We have a guide on how to deal with the Sea Monster, so be sure to check that out. Oh, did we mention there is also a giant shark? Don’t go fishing here until you deal with all of those threats.
That’s all we have on Dredge for now. Be sure to check out our other Guides and Walkthroughs for more Dredge content. Beware of the terrors hiding in the deep.
